Shankave Sritharan
Undergraduate Thesis Student
Shankave (she/her) joined the lab in 2025 as a research volunteer on the Smart Surfaces Project and is now a fourth-year undergraduate thesis student in the Honours Biochemistry program. Her research focuses on developing novel cardiac biomaterials to improve patient outcomes and advance cardiovascular care.
Outside the lab, Shankave serves as the Toronto Program Navigator at the Shine Through the Rain Foundation, where she supports families navigating life-threatening illnesses. She is also involved with McMaster’s iGEM team, Women in STEM, the Biochemistry and Biomedical Society, and the Welcome Week team. Across these roles, she promotes equity, access, and mentorship within academic and professional spaces. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, watching movies, and going on bike rides with friends.
